About Bees
- Bees are flower feeding flying insects which collect nectar from pollen that is in wild flowers.
- They commonly live in colonies with three different type of bees in each colony:
- Queen Bee - only job is to lay eggs for the span of her life
- The Drone (male) - only job is to mate with the queen and then die soon after fulfilling their task
- The Infertile worker (female) - clean the hive, collect pollen and nectar to feed the colony, take care of the offspring
Identify
- If bees are causing a threat to human welfare it would be appropriate to treat for them. This could include if they are near a children's playground, in the structure of a home, or near areas where humans frequent.
- Having said this, it is still important to identify what type of bee it is.
